Synopsis
The episode begins with President Selina Meyer denying at a press conference that she lobbied against her Families First bill. Her associates appear before House Judiciary Committee hearings: ex-staffers Amy and Dan together with White House Aide Jonah; secretary Sue alone; chief of staff Ben alone; and daughter Catherine in a private deposition. Ben denies any intent to kill the bill, while Amy and Dan state they were hired as consultants to lobby against it.
Former aide Leigh Patterson testifies she was fired to conceal that someone used a confidential data breach to target bereaved parents for Meyer's campaign, adding that only campaign consultant Bill Ericsson and bag man Gary Walsh knew about the breach. Ericsson and campaign manager Kent appear together; Ericsson becomes agitated when his name is repeatedly raised. In her deposition, Selina denies knowledge of the breach, refers to Catherine's fiancé Jason as a consultant, and later forces Catherine to break up with him.
Sue denies Selina met with Congressman Pierce. Mike states a parking-lot meeting with Dan, Amy, and Pierce was by chance. Gary admits he asked Dan and Amy to lobby against Families First and that Ericsson paid them. Catherine also names Ericsson as responsible. Each staffer ultimately identifies Ericsson as the responsible party.
