Get Jiro

Get Jiro is an upcoming adult animated action-thriller series for American television. Alessandro Tanaka and Brian Gatewood developed it. The show adapts the 2012 graphic novel *Get Jiro!* and its 2015 prequel *Get Jiro: Blood and Sushi*. Joel Rose and Anthony Bourdain wrote those books, with art by Langdon Foss and Alé Garza. DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint published them. The series premieres on October 4, 2026, in the United States on Adult Swim’s Toonami block. Each episode will also stream on Max shortly after its broadcast.
The story takes place in a near-future, post-apocalyptic Los Angeles. Chefs hold the most power in this world, where culinary culture dominates. Food functions as both currency and a class marker. The plot follows Jiro, a mysterious sushi chef, on a quest for vengeance.
Brian Tee voices Jiro. Titus Welliver, Alison Pill, and Justin Kirk are also set to voice characters, though their roles have not been announced.
Warner Bros. Animation and Adult Swim first announced the series at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2023. A work-in-progress preview was shown at the same festival in June 2025.
