Qods Talash

Iranian target drone and trainer for anti-aircraft systems.

Last updated

The Qods Talash, also known as the Hadaf (Target) UAV, is a simple Iranian unmanned aerial vehicle produced by Quds Air Industries. It is notable as the first drone manufactured by that company and is used primarily for training and target practice.

Background

The Talash UAV is based on plans drawn up by researchers at the Isfahan Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (Isfahan University Jihad) in 1985. It has small dimensions and is controlled by pulse-code modulation (PCM) radio, capable of performing maneuvers such as rolls and turns.

Two models exist: the Talash-1 and Talash-2, with several differences. The Talash-1 has landing gear for takeoff and landing, while the Talash-2 uses a JATO launcher (compressed gas launcher) for takeoff and a parachute for recovery. The Talash-2 can be identified by a longer nose and raked wingtips, and it has greater speed and maneuverability than the first model.
