Gaster Blaster
The Gaster Blaster is a spectral, skull-shaped projectile weapon that first appears during the Sans boss fight in the Judgment Hall. These constructs are not living beings but magical artifacts capable of firing concentrated beams of energy, often described as laser-like blasts. Lore & Background
In the final confrontation with Sans, these blasters become a chaotic element of the battlefield. Sans summons them en masse to overwhelm the protagonist, firing relentless volleys of energy across the screen. This display highlights their destructive potential and suggests they are part of a larger arsenal intended for high-level threats, serving as both a weapon of war and a symbol of Gaster's forgotten power.
Reader's Guide
In gameplay terms, Gaster Blasters function as stationary or semi-mobile enemies that fire laser beams in straight lines across the battle arena. They are primarily encountered during the secret fight with Omega Flowey, where they act as environmental hazards rather than traditional foes with health bars to deplete. Their lore significance is immense, serving as the primary visual link to Dr. W.D. Gaster's mysterious presence and his advanced magical research. Unlike standard monster attacks, these blasts represent a form of technology or magic that predates the war between humans and monsters. Only Omega Flowey is seen actively summoning and controlling them in combat within the main narrative. While they appear in Gaster's lab, they do not attack there unless triggered by specific conditions, suggesting they are automated defenses rather than independent agents.
