Alfredo Di Stéfano (1926–2014), nicknamed "Saeta Rubia" ("The Blond Arrow"), was an Argentine-born forward who played international football for Argentina and Colombia before taking Spanish citizenship and playing for Spain. He is widely ranked among the greatest footballers of all time.

Background

At Real Madrid he played in every one of the club's five European Cup wins in the 1950s and 1960s, beginning with the inaugural 1955–56 edition, where he debuted in a 2–0 away win at Servette. His 49 European Cup goals were the most by any player at the time, and in the 1960 final he scored a hat-trick in the 7–3 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
