The Dragon
Trash, the teal dragon of Scaled and Icy.
The dragon of Twenty One Pilots is Trash, the scaled teal dragon breathing yellow fire on the cover of the album Scaled and Icy (2021). Tyler Joseph has said it represents "inspiration, fear, and magic". It appears in computer-generated form in the album's music videos.
Lore & Background
The creature was originally drawn by the British illustrator Walter Crane for a children's book of the 1860s. Its use was also inspired by a small dragon figurine Joseph keeps in his home studio. In the "Choker" video Trash is a small blue dragon in a display case, and in "Saturday" a gigantic sea dragon known as Trash the Dragon crashes into the submarine where the duo perform. The video for "The Outside" shows that the bishop Keons had been controlling the dragon, and the other bishops execute him.
