2024 Tour de France

The 2024 Tour de France was the 111th edition, starting in Florence on 29 June, the first Grand Départ in Italy and a century after Ottavio Bottecchia's first Italian victory, and finishing on 21 July in Nice with a 33.7 km time trial from Monaco; for the first time the race did not end in or near Paris, because of preparations for the Olympic Games. Tadej Pogačar won by 6 min 17 s from two-time winner Jonas Vingegaard, with Tour debutant Remco Evenepoel third, and became the first rider since Marco Pantani in 1998 to win the Giro d'Italia and the Tour in the same year.

Romain Bardet took the first yellow jersey by winning the opening stage, dedicated to Pantani, from a breakaway with teammate Frank van den Broek; Pogačar led after stage 2, handed the jersey to Richard Carapaz, the first Ecuadorian to wear it, for a day, and took it back by winning stage 4 over the Galibier to Valloire. Vingegaard, who had crashed heavily at the Tour of the Basque Country in April, outsprinted Pogačar on stage 11 for his first stage win of the race, but Pogačar dominated the final week, winning the last time trial among his stage victories.

Mark Cavendish was presented on the final podium with a jersey reading CAXXXV for his record 35th stage win; 176 riders from 27 nations started.
