2023 Tour de France
Ten seconds after two weeks, seven minutes after the time trial: Vingegaard again.
The 2023 Tour de France was the 110th edition, starting in Bilbao in the Basque Country on 1 July and finishing on the Champs-Élysées on 23 July. Defending champion Jonas Vingegaard won for the second year in a row; two-time winner Tadej Pogačar was second and Adam Yates third. For two weeks the race was a close fight between Vingegaard and Pogačar, just ten seconds apart at the end of the second week, until Vingegaard won the stage 16 time trial by 1 min 38 s and stretched his lead to more than seven minutes on the following Alpine stage; his winning margin of 7 min 29 s was the largest since 2014 and put him level with Pogačar on Tour wins. Jasper Philipsen won the points classification for the first time, Giulio Ciccone the mountains, the first Italian to do so since 1992, Pogačar the young rider prize for the fourth year running and Victor Campenaerts the combativity award.
