Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a multi-purpose venue in London owned and run by the Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. It replaced the club's long-time ground, White Hart Lane, and with 62,850 seats it is the third-largest football stadium in England and the biggest club ground in the capital. Beyond football it hosts NFL International Series games and concerts, using a dividing, retractable synthetic turf pitch, the first of its kind in the world. Some fans and media still call it New White Hart Lane.

Background

Spurs were formed in 1882 and played first on Tottenham Marshes, then at Northumberland Park, before settling in 1899 on land behind the White Hart pub. White Hart Lane held nearly 80,000 by 1934, but conversion to all-seating left it at around 36,000 by 1998, too small to compete financially. After schemes such as a move to the Olympic Stadium came to nothing, the club announced the Northumberland Development Project in 2008. Plans were revised repeatedly, and after a riot in the area in August 2011 Haringey Council granted permission. Building finally began in 2015, and the stadium opened on 3 April 2019 before its first Premier League match.
