Melina is a member of the Resistance, a group deemed terrorists by the United Federation of Britain (UFB) who seek to expose the truth about the colony's exploitation. She is the woman from Douglas Quaid's unsettling dreams of being a secret agent. When Quaid arrives in the UFB, he is rescued by Melina. She reveals she was the lover of Quaid's former identity as a rogue UFB agent, before he was captured and implanted with false memories.
Melina compares matching scars with Quaid from when they were shot while holding hands in his "dream." She takes Quaid to see the Resistance leader so he can help Quaid recover his true memories. After the UFB storms the Resistance base and takes Melina prisoner, Quaid sneaks onto the UFB leader's vessel to free her. They fight the UFB soldiers before Quaid's explosives detonate, destroying the vessel.
Quaid and Melina jump off before the explosion. Quaid eventually reunites with Melina after the UFB's control is broken.

They fight Cohaagen and his soldiers before the vessel explodes, killing Cohaagen. Quaid eventually reunites with the real Melina after news channels declare the Colony's independence from the UFB.
