Lore & Background
Pioran is introduced as an elderly woman who travels with Fushi after he leaves Ninannah. She teaches him speech, becoming one of his earliest human companions. Their journey takes them to Takunaha, where they battle a Nokker—a parasitic entity that steals Fushi's forms—and reclaim what was lost. Pioran's dementia worsens over time, and before dying, she asks the Beholder to reincarnate as something useful—returning as a horse. For forty years after her death, Fushi isolates himself until Nokkers target humans again.
