Background
On August 18, 1973, Erin, her boyfriend Kemper, her brother Morgan and their friends Andy and Pepper are driving through Texas to a concert when a hitchhiker they pick up kills herself in their van. Looking for the police, they meet Luda Mae at a gas station and the false Sheriff Hoyt, and are killed one by one by Leatherface and the Hewitt family. Erin, the only survivor, cuts off Leatherface's right arm with a meat cleaver, runs Hoyt over and escapes with a baby. Several members of the original crew took part: Hooper and Kim Henkel were co-producers, Daniel Pearl was cinematographer again, and John Larroquette repeated his narration of the opening titles. The film was released in the United States on October 17, 2003, got mixed reviews and was a commercial success.
