Midkemia-Mallorea Alliance
Ancient enemies united by the shadow of the Emerald Queen's invasion.
The Midkemia-Mallorea Alliance refers to the strategic partnership forged between the Kingdom of the Isles (Midkemia) and the Empire of Tsurani during the Serpentwar Saga, not the First Riftwar. Historically, these two nations were enemies in the Riftwar, but they set aside their differences when faced with the existential threat of the Emerald Queen's invading forces. This cooperation allowed for the pooling of military resources and magical expertise necessary to repel the invasion.

Lore & Background
For generations, the Kingdom of the Isles and the Empire of Tsurani viewed each other with suspicion, their worlds once torn apart by the Riftwar. The emergence of the Emerald Queen's serpent-army changed everything, as her forces threatened to conquer the entire continent. The Emperor of Great Kesh remained neutral or hostile during the conflict, so the primary military cooperation involved the Kingdom, Tsurani, and dwarves. The Tsurani Emperor realized his armies alone could not withstand the assault on Krondor and beyond. He sought aid from the Kingdom, a request that would have been denied under normal circumstances but was accepted out of necessity.
Reader's Guide
The narrative arc begins with Magician, where the protagonist discovers the existence of Malloreon and the magical rift connecting the worlds. This sets the stage for the political maneuvering required to unite the two nations against a common foe. A Darkness at Sethanon details the escalation of the war, highlighting the logistical challenges of moving Midkemian troops through the rift to support Mallorean defenses. The climax sees combined forces halting the Tsurani advance. Silverthorn explores the aftermath and the political fallout of this alliance as both nations attempt to rebuild while managing lingering distrust. This arc establishes the foundation for future conflicts in the world, proving that magic and diplomacy can overcome ancient hatreds when survival is at stake.
