The season officially began with "Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained" on November 6, 2011, and the twentieth episode "Happiness & Joy" served as the season finale on April 8, 2012. A three-part reunion followed on April 15, April 19, and April 22, 2012. The series is produced and distributed by True Entertainment, an American subsidiary of Endemol. Cast and synopsis
No regular cast changes occurred at the start of the season, though Marlo Hampton joined as a recurring cast member. Kim Zolciak was pregnant by boyfriend Kroy Biermann and later gave birth to a son. NeNe Leakes continued divorce proceedings with Gregg, while Shereé Whitfield faced financial difficulties after her ex-husband failed to pay child support. Cynthia Bailey opened a modeling agency, and Phaedra Parks sought to launch a family-operated funeral home. Leakes's new friendship with Hampton caused tension among the women, escalating during a group vacation in South Africa. Zolciak, who stayed home with her children, was upset by negative comments Bailey made about her on the trip. By season's end, Leakes began reconsidering her divorce.
