Plot

Bradley meets Cory for dinner, where he offers her a field correspondent position at The Morning Show and puts her in contact with Chip. Chip, however, feels her ideas do not suit the show's uplifting tone, prompting Bradley to lambast him. The rival show Your Day America announces an interview with one of Mitch's victims. Hannah visits the victim, Ashley Brown, convincing her that an interview at UBA would be more impactful. Mitch learns from his lawyer that UBA will no longer pay him for violating his contract, and he refuses to sell properties to stay afloat. He later tries to schedule meetings with reporters to tell his side; Chip confronts Mitch at his house, asking him to stop ruining the show's image. Alex, temporarily co-hosting with Daniel Henderson, leverages her position to demand co-host approval and pressures Chip. At a ceremony where she receives the Leadership in Journalism Award, Alex tells Cory she will quit without co-host approval, but Cory is unfazed. During her speech, Alex announces that Bradley will be her co-host, shocking the staff.

Critical reviews

"A Seat at the Table" received mixed reviews from critics. Maggie Fremont of Vulture gave the episode a 3 star rating out of 5, writing that while Mitch makes the right decision not to ruin Alex's night, it seems hard to imagine buying any redemption arc for him. Jodi Walker of Entertainment Weekly wrote that the series is not quite adding up to what its star power suggests, but can roll out compelling moments. Esme Mazzeo of Telltale TV noted that the show never chooses to be polarizing, wanting to tell every side of every story. Joel Keller of Decider found the episode more cohesive, displaying Aniston's comedic abilities and the chemistry between Aniston and Witherspoon.
