The Cowboys' Christmas Ball

A Killers Christmas song from a cowboy poem.

Last updated 22 October 2026

The Cowboys' Christmas Ball is a country Christmas song by the Las Vegas rock band The Killers, released as a digital download on November 30, 2011. The lyrics derive from an 1890s poem by William Lawrence Chittenden, which John Lomax included in his 1910 book Cowboy Songs, noting it had been set to music by cowboys and altered through oral transmission. The Killers version changes the first line from Western Texas to Old Nevada. Proceeds from the song benefit AIDS charities through the Product Red campaign.
