Lore & Background
Robert Smith wrote it in memory of his friend Billy Mackenzie, singer of the Associates, who died by suicide in 1997. The title has nothing to do with the lyric: it is an anagram of "The Cure". AllMusic heard in it "early sounds of Madchester".
