Lore & Background

Outside of that session, however, he has no other known involvement with the Cure. His career is far broader, spanning decades and genres. He was a member of Graham Parker and the Rumour, a pub-rock and later new wave band, and also played with the Associates, Poi Dog Pondering, the Waco Brothers, Sally Timms and the Drifting Cowgirls, and the Mekons. His work with Elvis Costello on "Watching the Detectives" and his co-writing credit on Nick Lowe's "I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass" further cement his reputation as a versatile and in-demand drummer. He now lives in New York City.

Reader's Guide

He was never a member of the band, did not appear on any other Cure recordings, and has no songwriting credits with them. His drumming on that track is a specific, credited session appearance. To hear his work, listen to "Let's Go to Bed" and focus on the steady, propulsive beat that drives the song. Beyond that, his career is rich with other notable projects: he was a member of Graham Parker and the Rumour, played on Elvis Costello's "Watching the Detectives," and co-wrote Nick Lowe's "I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass." He also played with the Associates, Poi Dog Pondering, the Waco Brothers, Sally Timms and the Drifting Cowgirls, and the Mekons. He lives in New York City.
