Background
Eden travels to Jamaica with his wife after international pressure forces him to withdraw British forces from Egypt and damages his reputation. Philip continues his tour and ends an interview when the reporter asks about his family history. At Christmas he delivers a heartfelt radio address from Graham Land, and Elizabeth tells him in her own Christmas address that his family is waiting for him. Eileen Parker, the wife of Philip's private secretary Michael, starts divorce proceedings on grounds of infidelity, and Charteris warns Adeane that the press may start asking about Elizabeth and Philip's own marriage.
