Sheldon and Amy
From online-dating match to Nobel laureates.
Sheldon and Amy's relationship begins in the third-season finale, when Raj and Howard sign Sheldon up for online dating and the service matches him with the neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler. It grows slowly from a purely intellectual bond into a romance as Sheldon overcomes his aversion to physical contact and emotional intimacy; they briefly split after arguing over whose field is superior, and in season nine Amy breaks up with him after he keeps pressing her to make up her mind. They reunite and reach milestones including their first sexual encounter on Amy's birthday and moving in together, and Sheldon proposes in the season eleven premiere. Their wedding in the season eleven finale caps Sheldon's growth from an emotionally closed man into a partner, and the series finale centers on the two receiving the Nobel Prize in Physics.
