Background

Under the Former Emperor they kept exporting slaves despite the ban, until the Empress Regnant forced the clan head to send his daughter Shenmei to the Inner Court as a high consort; Shishou, her betrothed, worked with the Empress Regnant to hold the would-be slaves in the Inner Court as maidservants and eunuchs, and later became Prime Minister. On the Former Emperor's order he married the emperor's banished illegitimate daughter, who bore Shisui, later called Suirei; after the old clan head died, Shenmei was given to him as well.

Five years into the current reign the clan forced Ah-Duo out in favour of Loulan, while Shenmei plotted a revolt: the clan schemed attempts on the imperial heirs and built feifa guns and gunpowder at its stronghold. Imperial troops attacked the fortress, where Shishou and Shenmei were killed and Loulan was shot; Suirei was spared for her imperial blood, and the clan's children survived through the sisters' scheme.
