That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond is a 2022 Japanese animated isekai fantasy film based on the light novel series by Fuse. It was produced by Eight Bit, distributed by Bandai Namco Filmworks, directed by Yasuhito Kikuchi, and written by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, who adapted an original story drafted by Fuse. The story takes place after the second season of the anime and centers on Hiiro, another survivor of the Ogre Village, and Towa, the queen of a small kingdom west of the Jura Tempest Federation. Discussions about a film adaptation began in 2019, and Fuse was asked to write a draft in early 2020. Production started in late 2020, and the film was announced to the public in September 2021. The returning cast was confirmed in March 2022, with Yuma Uchida, Riko Fukumoto, and Subaru Kimura joining in August to voice the original characters. The production staff was revealed that same month. The film premiered in Tokyo on November 9, 2022, and was released in Japan on November 25. It received mixed reviews; critics praised the character Hiiro and the visuals but criticized how Rimuru Tempest was written. The film grossed over million worldwide. After deserting Clayman’s army, an Ogre and his mercenaries are attacked by Clayman’s soldiers. The Ogre is severely injured by their leader, Yamza, but is found by people from the Kingdom of Raja. Queen Towa names him Hiiro to help him recover. Ten days later, Hiiro escapes Raja to return to the Ogre Village, only to find it destroyed by Orcs. Seeking vengeance, he returns to Raja four days later and swears loyalty to Towa. Rimuru, now recognized as a Demon Lord after defeating Clayman, learns from Souei that an attack is underway against Geld and his Orcs. Hiiro and two Raja subordinates are fighting the Orcs. When Hiiro reveals his revenge motive, Geld drops his weapons and accepts death, but Benimaru saves him and calms Hiiro, who turns out to be Benimaru’s childhood friend. Hiiro reunites with Benimaru, Shion, Shuna, Hakuro, Souei, and Kurobe, and reconciles with Geld after learning the Orcs are no longer enemies and the manipulator is dead. At a feast, Hiiro explains he came as Raja’s messenger to ask permission to cultivate part of the Great Jura Forest for food.
