Plus-Sized Elf

Plus-Sized Elf (Japanese: エルフさんは痩せられない。, Hepburn: Erufu-san wa Yaserarenai; lit. 'Ms. Elf Can't Lose Weight') is a manga series by Synecdoche. The original run was serialized on Wani Books' Comic Gum website from December 2016 to June 2020, and its chapters were collected into eight tankōbon volumes. When Wani Books' license expired, Synecdoche self-published the series from April to May 2021. A sequel, *Plus-Sized Elf: Second Helping!*, began serialization in Akita Shoten's monthly seinen magazine *Dokodemo Young Champion* in October 2021. Seven Seas Entertainment holds the English license for both series in North America. An anime television adaptation by Elias aired from July to September 2024.

The story follows Tomoatsu Naoe, an osteopathic massage therapist, who receives a new client one night. The client is Elfuda, an elf from another world who has become overweight from eating French fries on Earth. She needs to lose weight to pass through the portal home. As Tomoatsu helps her, other overweight mythical creatures also seek his assistance.

Tomoatsu Naoe works at Smiley Boar, a relaxation clinic, as a seitai massage practitioner. He creates treatments and meal plans for his clients, who call him "Human." He has a strong fear of reptiles after being bitten by a snake as a child. Akiho Ino is the 40-year-old manager of Smiley Boar, who looks younger than her age and is unaware that Tomoatsu's clients are not human. She enjoys going out for drinks and has implied feelings for Tomoatsu, though on a beach island she shows a desire for a harem of men.

Elfuda is an elf who became fat from eating too many French fries on Earth. She seeks weight loss to use the portal home. Though she initially succeeds, her weight fluctuates due to her love of fries, and she moves in with Tomoatsu to follow his regimen. In her world, she is a skilled archer, but most creatures there dislike her because she is often rude. Kuroeda is a dark elf working at a convenience store, troubled by her large buttocks from standing long hours without exercise. As natural enemies of elves, she and Elfuda initially clash but later become frenemies. She is a sorceress who collects materials for potions.

Mero is a merrow who works at a fish market and maintains human form with a special medicine.
