Lenny Henry in Pieces

Characters

The show introduced numerous characters. Donovan Bogarde is a randy OAP who pursues Mrs Johnson and uses sexual innuendos in every sentence. Gloria, a petrol station cashier, reads cheap novels and is annoyed when customers require service. Big Tramp is a homeless man who tries to obtain money by any means. Weekend Dad, named Clive, only sees his son Curtis on weekends and remains bitter toward his estranged wife (Tracy-Ann Oberman). Unsuitable Bloke applies for jobs he is unqualified for, believing rejection is due to his race, yet he often gets the job anyway. Uncle Lucas is a friendly pensioner with an endless supply of compromising stories about people's childhoods, leading to various disasters. Didi le Gateau is a French footballer; in sketches, Lenny and a partner (Omid Djalili) try to be discreet to avoid death, but Omid farts, causing Lenny to laugh uncontrollably, and they die. The second series added Blaxploitation Pope (Lucius T. Kool III), a ghetto brother leading the Catholic Church; President Umbukele, an expert in diplomacy who spends foreign aid on silly things; bad influence Granddad; and a family of animated polar bears with Brummie accents living at Dudley Zoo.
