Win Beadle's Money
Three players compete to take Jeremy Beadle's money.
Win Beadle's Money was a British game show adapted from the American format Win Ben Stein's Money. It aired from 2 August to 22 December 1999, with Jeremy Beadle as host and Richard Morton as co-host. The show was brought to the UK after Richard Hearsey, Head of Worldwide Acquisitions & Development at Pearson Television, spotted the original program during a trip to Los Angeles and pursued the rights through discussions with Ben Stein and the format's owners.
Three contestants played across several rounds, aiming to reduce Beadle's starting bank of £1,000. In the first round, they chose from five categories, with correct buzzer answers earning between £10 and £30. A correct answer also triggered a £10 bonus question. After time ran out, the lowest-scoring player was eliminated, and their cash returned to Beadle's bank.
The remaining two players then faced Beadle, who defended his money while Morton read questions worth £40 to £100, with no bonus questions. At the end of this round, the lower scorer's winnings also went back to Beadle's bank, leaving only the winner to keep their earnings.
In the final round, the winning player and Beadle sat in separate soundproof booths. Both had 60 seconds to answer the same ten questions read by Morton. If Beadle answered more correctly, the contestant kept only their earlier winnings. A tie gave the contestant an extra £200. If the contestant answered more correctly, they took Beadle's entire £1,000.
