Two for the Money (game show)
A game show blending host humor with alternating answer rounds.
Initially sponsored by Old Gold cigarettes, the show was conceived as a vehicle for host Herb Shriner's homespun Hoosier humor, similar to the format of Groucho Marx's You Bet Your Life. Contestants answered questions in alternating rounds, with dollar values increasing based on prior winnings. The show ran one season on NBC and four on CBS, and its audio portion was also broadcast as a network radio offering. Humorist Sam Levenson hosted the final season. Seventeen episodes survive at the UCLA Film and Television Archive, and 171 episodes from the Herb Shriner run are held by the Library of Congress.
