Reception

Candy Crush received very negative critical reception, with many reviewers calling it one of the worst game shows ever made. It holds a 2.1 rating on IMDb. Nick Slatt of The Verge described it as an unmitigated train wreck banking on the popularity of its lead-in, Big Brother, and argued that watching the game was uninteresting because the enjoyment of the original game comes from playing it. Other commentators, including Andy Dehnart of reality blurred, Sarah Perez of TechCrunch, and Ana Valens of CGMagazine, agreed that the gameplay was not compelling to watch. Nick Valdez of Destructoid expressed confusion about the show's mechanics and questioned the notability of celebrity guests such as Frankie Grande, suggesting the show hurt host Mario Lopez's career.
