Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters is an American animated series from Hasbro Studios, distributed by Netflix. It is inspired by the 1970s Stretch Armstrong action figure, but introduces an original superhero setting with new characters, villains, and mythology. The show was created by executive producers Kevin Burke, Victor Cook, and Chris "Doc" Wyatt. Victor Cook also served as supervising director, while Burke and Wyatt worked as story editors. They additionally wrote a tie-in comic for IDW Publishing. The first season launched on Netflix on November 17, 2017, and the second season followed on September 7, 2018, ending on a cliffhanger.
The story follows three ordinary teenagers—Jake Armstrong, Nathan Park, and Ricardo Perez—living in the high-tech city of Charter City. After an accident exposes them to a substance called Flexarium, they gain superpowers. Jonathan Rook, CEO of Rook Unlimited and the city's benefactor, offers to keep them out of trouble with the authorities if they become Charter City's superhero team, the Flex Fighters. They agree on the condition that their identities remain secret. Jake becomes Stretch, Nathan becomes Wingspan, and Ricardo becomes Omni-Mass.
Early in their careers, the Flex Fighters undergo rigorous training from Malcolm Kane, Rook's second-in-command. They battle various villains, including the Stretch Monster, who secretly funds many of them. The Stretch Monster shares a past with Dr. Racine Cleo (Dr. C), Rook's former mentor, and her ninja companion Riya Dashti (Blindstrike), who is also Jake's classmate and love interest. In their final mission of the first season, the Flex Fighters discover that Jonathan Rook and the Stretch Monster are the same person—he has been their enemy all along. Rook plans to use Dr. C's HyperFlexarium formula to create a monster army and conquer the world. Using data collected from the team's battles, he begins building his forces. The Flex Fighters destroy his equipment and monsters, and with help from Dr. C and Blindstrike, they escape. However, Rook frames them for the destruction his monsters caused. With the city under Rook's control and its citizens turned against them, the Flex Fighters ally with Dr. C and Blindstrike to expose Rook's crimes and clear their names.
In season two, with Charter City believing the Flex Fighters are villains, they work with Dr.
