Characters
Markus "Mark" Grayson / Invincible (voiced by Steven Yeun) develops super-strength, speed, nigh-invulnerability, slow-aging, and flight at age 17 and fights evil as Invincible. Deborah "Debbie" Grayson (voiced by Sandra Oh) is Mark's mother, a real estate agent long adjusted to being a superhero's spouse. Nolan Grayson / Omni-Man (voiced by J. K. Simmons) is Mark's father, a Viltrumite who arrived on Earth 20 years prior and is considered the most powerful superhero on the planet.
Production
A live-action film based on the comic was announced in April 2017 at Universal Pictures, with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg writing and directing. The film remained in development after the series was announced, and in 2023 Rogen stated the animated series strongly influenced the live-action adaptation. In August 2017, Kirkman signed a deal with Amazon to develop series for Prime Video, but Invincible was initially excluded due to the Universal film. On June 19, 2018, Amazon ordered a first season of eight hour-long episodes. Kirkman chose traditional hand-drawn animation, finding 3D modeling too costly and slow for the number of new characters per episode. Robert Kirkman and Simon Racioppa serve as co-showrunners and executive producers alongside David Alpert, Margaret M. Dean, Catherine Winder, Seth Rogen, and Evan Goldberg. Production companies include Skybound Entertainment.
Release
The first season debuted on March 25, 2021, with the first three episodes released simultaneously; the remaining five aired weekly. The eight-episode second season was split into two parts: part one premiered November 3, 2023, and part two on March 14, 2024. The third season premiered February 6, 2025, with its first three episodes, and the fourth season premiered March 18, 2026, with weekly releases concluding April 22, 2026.
