Ever After High

Ever After High, a fashion doll franchise from Mattel, launched in July 2013. It serves as a companion to the Monster High line, but instead of monsters or mythical beings, its characters are drawn from classic fairy tales and fantasy stories. Like Monster High and Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse, the franchise adapts its content for different countries and languages. It has expanded into a web series, a film, and five book series.

The story takes place at Ever After High, a boarding school in the Fairy Tale World for the teenage children of famous fairy tale characters. Central to the plot are Raven Queen, who rejects her mother the Evil Queen’s path of villainy, and Apple White, Snow White’s daughter who wants her “happily ever after.” Raven seeks freedom to shape her own future, while Apple believes Raven must become the next Evil Queen to preserve everyone’s destined stories. Students split into two factions: the “Royals,” who follow Apple and embrace their predetermined roles, and the “Rebels,” who side with Raven and want to forge their own paths. Much of the series focuses on everyday teen life, but an underlying conflict emerges when the headmaster warns that failing to fulfill their destinies will cause the students to vanish forever.

The franchise features numerous characters across its media, with many profiled on the official website and released as dolls. Among the Royal main characters, Apple White has light blond hair, light skin, and light blue eyes. She is described as motivated, smart, and a natural-born leader, aspiring to follow her mother’s Royal example. She shares a room with Raven Queen and secretly wishes to be seen as the fairest inside and out. She serves as student council co-president and yearbook editor. Alistair Wonderland, son of Alice from *Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland*, has blond hair and blue eyes and dreams of exploring the entire fairy tale world. He has a crush on fellow Wonderland student Bunny Blanc but thinks she sees him only as a friend. His doll debuted at the 2015 New York Toy Fair. Ashlynn Ella, Cinderella’s daughter, has strawberry blonde hair and emerald green eyes, often wearing floral dresses. She works part-time at the Glass Slipper shoe boutique and can talk to plants and animals.
