Summary
The game includes all NBA teams from the 1991–92 season, though it was released during the 1992–93 season; the New York Knicks logo reflects the earlier season. Players can choose exhibition games, the 1992 All-Star Game, or the 1992-93 season. In season mode, a player may control two teams and play every game those teams play. The Super NES version features Michael Jordan and Reggie Lewis on the Bulls and Celtics, while the Genesis version replaces them with generic players labeled Guard Bulls and Forward Celtics. It is one of the few 16-bit games that allows watching every game, not just those of the selected team.
Reception
Reviews found the game disappointing given Tecmo's reputation from Tecmo Super Bowl. A review noted constant fouling, poorly timed screens, and errant passes as major issues. Another review described players behaving like machines, passing until an open jump-shot appears, making the game feel like a task rather than fun. It is also among the last video games to include Michael Jordan during his playing career.
