Differences

The changes from Captain Tsubasa to Tecmo Cup Soccer Game include a modified intro: the American version shows a soccer ball on a blue floor instead of a young Tsubasa on a green floor, and the plane is not displayed in front of the logo. The main character Tsubasa, a spiky-haired black-haired kid, becomes Robin Field, a blonde young adult. The anime theme Moete Hero used in the intro and second half is replaced. At the start of a new game, the words above the announcer change from ON AIR to TECMO!, and the JBS logo is omitted. The board behind instructor Billy changes from green to blue, and no kids sit with him. The password system uses the Latin alphabet instead of Japanese characters. The ball-possession song in the first half is changed because it was part of Moete Hero. In Captain Tsubasa, a sidequest was needed to recruit Taro Misaki; in Tecmo Cup Soccer Game, his counterpart Cecil joins immediately as Robin's brother. Goalkeeper quality was dramatically upgraded, with some goalkeepers (especially the Zaps and Ninjas) able to stop Robin's special shot, and the goalkeepers of Arabia and Cameroon are hard to beat. A Spanish version released in Spain, called Tecmo Cup Football Game, is similar but in the Spanish language.
