History
On August 11, 2021, Charles White Jr. announced the signing of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player Kolawole "Kola" Aideyan and the formation of Moist Esports. By September, the organization had expanded into Guilty Gear Strive and Super Smash Bros. Melee. On May 5, 2022, Moist Esports created its Rocket League division by signing former players of Team Queso. On September 11, 2021, White revealed that he runs Moist Esports at a net loss and rallied his subscribers to join Team Moist in an Omega Strikers event, where Team Moist took first place with over 2 million wins. On January 25, 2023, Ludwig Ahgren and Nick Allen joined as co-owners. On February 26, 2023, Moist Esports expanded into Valorant with the team Moist Moguls, formed after acquiring Team BreakThru. On April 6, 2023, the organization signed top Super Smash Bros. Melee player Zain Naghmi. On January 17, 2025, Shopify Rebellion announced that White and Ahgren had joined as co-owners, merging the two entities and transferring Moist's teams to Rebellion.
Divisions
On September 6, 2022, Moist Esports created an Apex Legends team by signing three players from former Team Burger. In 2023, Electronic Arts signed the team as one of twelve partnered for Year Four of the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS). In January 2024, White disclosed difficulties with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in immigrating two Australian team members, Matthew "Emtee" Trengrove and Ben "Wxltzy" Walton. Both athletes were twice denied entry into the United States for the 2024 ALGS Split One, and instead arrived in Canada to compete. The USCIS agent stated that the team's official championship ranking (4th in NA) was "insufficient" and could not determine that a senior manager at Electronic Arts who vouched for Moist Esports was an official of a governing body in esports. White condemned the proceedings and alleged that other esports associates avoided business with that agent. On April 12, 2024, White announced the team would separate due to repeated immigration rejections, and later stated he would pursue suing the U.S. Immigration department. The team competed as "Not Moist" in the ALGS Year 4 Split 1 Playoffs and Split 2, and as "Mizuchi" during the Esports World Cup. On September 29, 2024, Moist signed the roster of Emtee, Xynew, Koyful and coach Don for the Year 4 Championship, taking Spacestation Gaming's slot. After the merger with Shopify Rebellion in January 2025, the roster played under the Shopify banner for that event.
