Playing career
Geekie went second overall in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft, selected by the Winnipeg Ice after the team traded for the pick; they already held the first overall choice, which they used on Matthew Savoie. He played seven games in the WHL during the 2019–20 season. Before that, he suited up for the Yellowhead Chiefs at the 18U AAA level, putting up 18 goals and 35 points in 26 contests. In the shortened 2020–21 season, his 23 points placed him second among WHL rookies, behind only Connor Bedard. The following year, his first full WHL campaign, he notched 24 goals and 70 points across 63 games, helping Winnipeg finish atop the league standings, and added 11 points in the playoffs before the Ice fell in the conference finals. At the 2022 NHL Draft, the Arizona Coyotes sent the 27th, 34th, and 45th overall picks to the San Jose Sharks to move up to 11th, where they grabbed Geekie. He was one of three first-round selections for Arizona that year, joining Logan Cooley (third overall) and Maveric Lamoureux (29th). On July 18, 2022, he inked a three-year entry-level contract with the Coyotes. In the 2022–23 season, he scored 35 goals and 77 points in 66 games for Winnipeg. The next season, he stayed with the franchise after it relocated to Wenatchee, Washington, becoming the Wenatchee Wild. On January 4, 2024, the Wild dealt him to the Swift Current Broncos for three players and four draft picks, including two first-rounders. After the 2023–24 season, the Coyotes ceased operations, and Geekie was moved to the Utah Hockey Club. On June 29, 2024, he was traded alongside J. J. Moser, a seventh-round pick (199th overall) in the 2024 draft, and a second-rounder in the 2025 draft to the Tampa Bay Lightning for defenseman Mikhail Sergachev. Geekie made the Lightning’s opening-night roster for the 2024–25 season and debuted in the NHL on October 11, a 4-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. He earned his first career NHL assist and point on October 22, 2024, in an 8-5 victory against the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center. His first NHL goal came on October 26, 2024, against the Washington Capitals at Amalie Arena in Tampa.
