Gameplay
In Ill, players explore a physics-driven world while managing resources, crafting, and solving environmental puzzles. Combat against enemies and bosses demands tactical decisions due to limited supplies. Weapons can be modified and upgraded but need regular maintenance. A dismemberment system lets player actions influence enemy behavior, blending survival horror with first-person shooting.
Development
Ill is a horror video game in development by Team Clout, an Armenian studio with roughly 50 staff members. The project began when the company’s four founders started tinkering with a physics-based horror concept. In 2023, the team partnered with Mundfish Powerhouse, a publishing arm of Mundfish. The game runs on Unreal Engine 5. Founders Maxim Verehin and Oleg Vdovenko bring experience in concept art, horror animation, and filmmaking. The design draws inspiration from practical effects, animatronics, 1970s–1990s horror movies, Half-Life 2, Silent Hill, and the Resident Evil series. Verehin noted that the first-person perspective was chosen to let cinematic scenes flow directly into gameplay without frequent cuts.
