The second season of *Suits* got the green light on August 11, 2011. It ran on USA Network from June 14, 2012, through February 21, 2013. Hypnotic Films & Television and Universal Cable Productions handled production, with Doug Liman, David Bartis, and creator Aaron Korsh serving as executive producers.
The show follows corporate lawyer Harvey Specter and his associate Mike Ross, who practices law without ever having attended law school. Six actors returned as regulars, all working at the Manhattan firm Pearson Hardman. Gabriel Macht plays Harvey, a senior partner who must hire an associate. Patrick J. Adams is Mike, a college dropout who lands the job thanks to his photographic memory and genuine drive to be a good lawyer. Rick Hoffman portrays Louis Litt, Harvey’s jealous rival who oversees the firm’s first-year associates. Meghan Markle plays Rachel Zane, a paralegal who wants to be an attorney but struggles with test anxiety that keeps her from Harvard Law. Sarah Rafferty is Donna Paulsen, Harvey’s longtime legal secretary and confidante, and the only person at the firm who initially knows Mike never went to law school. Gina Torres plays Jessica Pearson, the firm’s co-founder and managing partner.
Recurring roles included Abigail Spencer as Dana Scott, David Costabile as Daniel Hardman, and Eric Close as Travis Tanner. Rebecca Schull appeared as a guest star, playing Edith Ross.
