Psi Serpentis, a triple star system in the Serpens Caput section of Serpens, sits about 47.8 light-years away. Barely visible to the naked eye at magnitude 5.84, it passed closest to the Sun roughly 585,000 years ago. The primary star, a G5 V yellow dwarf, is a solar analog with 99.5% of the Sun’s mass and 95% of its radius, shining at 84% of solar luminosity with a temperature of 5,667 K. Its two fainter companions, both M3 red dwarfs, orbit each other every 6.57 years at a separation of 0.22 arcseconds, while the pair orbits the primary every 528.79 years.
