HJ 2814
A quintuple star system in Serpens with two subsystems.
HJ 2814 (WDS J17563-1549) is a five-star system located in the Serpens constellation. It is notable for its hierarchical arrangement of two subsystems: a triple star and a binary star, separated by a wide orbital distance.

Properties
The quintuple system HJ 2814 consists of two subsystems: the triple system HIP 87813 (HJ 2814 A) and the binary HJ 2814 B, separated by 1,600 astronomical units with an estimated orbital period of 26,000 years. HIP 87813 contains an inner binary (Aa1 and Aa2) separated by 0.16 au with a 13.4-day orbit; Aa1 is an A-type main-sequence star of 2.03 solar masses and 1.93 solar radii, while Aa2 has 0.85 solar masses and 0.76 solar radii. A third star, Ab, orbits the inner pair at 27 au with a 70-year period, having 0.77 solar masses and 0.70 solar radii. The Aa1-Aa2 pair is resolvable only by interferometry, while Aa-Ab can be detected with adaptive optics; Ab was also found via astrometry, making HIP 87813 an astrometric binary. HJ 2814 B is a binary with components Ba and Bb, orbiting every 729 days on a semi-major axis of 0.76 au and eccentricity 0.5. Their masses are 0.94 and 0.66 solar masses, and the combined spectrum is G0V. Parallax from Gaia gives a distance of 256 ly for component A, while a dynamical parallax for component B indicates 263.5 ly, though the Gaia parallax for B is unreliable.
