V346 Centauri
Algol-type eclipsing binary in Centaurus with two B-type stars.
V346 Centauri is an Algol-type eclipsing binary in Centaurus, consisting of two hot B-type stars. Its apparent magnitude ranges from 8.50 to 8.77 during primary eclipse and 8.72 during secondary eclipse, which is total. The system lies about 2300 parsecs away, based on Gaia parallax, and is a confirmed member of the open cluster Stock 14. The primary is a B0.5IV star with 12 solar masses and 8.3 solar radii, while the secondary is a B2V star with 8.5 solar masses and 4.1 solar radii. The orbit has an eccentricity of 0.287 and an inclination of 84.4°, with apsidal precession. Around 1965, the orbital period decreased from 6.322123 to 6.321843 days for an unknown reason.
