Terran Confederacy

The Terran Confederacy is the principal power in the Koprulu Sector at the start of StarCraft, an authoritarian government centred on Tarsonis. Arcturus Mengsk, born into one of its founding families on Korhal IV, turned revolutionary after Confederate assassins murdered his family, and the Confederacy answered his activities with a nuclear attack on Korhal that wiped out its population. Jim Raynor joins Mengsk's Sons of Korhal against the Confederacy, which Raynor sees as tyrannical and corrupt. After the Zerg destroy Tarsonis, Mengsk crowns himself emperor and the Terran Dominion takes the Confederacy's place.
