Ai sponge
AI-generated SpongeBob parody known for explicit dialogue and bans.
ai_sponge, also referred to as "AI SpongeBob", was a pair of Twitch and YouTube channels that parodied the American animated series SpongeBob SquarePants. The channels used artificial intelligence to generate movements, voices, and dialogue exchanges of characters, with dialogue influenced by unrestricted recommendations from an online chat on Discord. The channel became known for strange and often sexual dialogue, leading to multiple bans for violating platform terms of service, and its original channel has since been listed as unavailable on Twitch and removed from YouTube.

Background
ai_sponge was created on 5 March 2023 as a parody channel of SpongeBob SquarePants, similar in format to Nothing, Forever, a parody of Seinfeld that began in December 2022. The channel recreated characters and settings using 3D modeling from the 2003 video game Battle for Bikini Bottom, with all movements, voices, and dialogue operated by AI. The owner did not make themselves public and had no control over dialogue, which was instead influenced by unrestricted recommendations from a Discord chat. This led to characters repeatedly discussing sexual situations, depression, drug misuse, kleptomania, communism, and tax fraud, despite the channel advertising itself as PG-13.
