FC Barcelona in international football
Barcelona holds records in multiple European competitions.
Futbol Club Barcelona is a Spanish professional football club based in Barcelona that first participated in a European competition in 1910. From the 1955–56 season onward, with the exception of 1956–57 (during the first Fairs Cup, because a Vienna XI withdrew from the competition), they are the only team to have played in the European competitions every year to date. Barcelona has won the Cup Winners' Cup four times and the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup three times, both tournament records, and has also claimed the UEFA Champions League five times.

Did You Know?
- Barcelona's first international cup was the Pyrenees Cup, which ran from 1910 to 1914; Barcelona won four consecutive editions from 1910 to 1913.
- In the UEFA Cup, Barcelona lost four semi-finals (1975–76, 1977–78, 1995–96, 2000–01), and in each case the team that eliminated them went on to win the competition.
- Barcelona's first European Cup victory came in 1992 under Johan Cruyff's Dream Team, with a 1–0 win against Sampdoria.
Latin Cup
The Latin Cup was launched in 1949 by the football federations of Spain, Italy, France, and Portugal, staged at the end of each season in a single host country. As La Liga champions in 1949, Barcelona represented Spain in the inaugural competition, defeating Reims 5–0 in the semi-final at Les Corts and Sporting CP 2–1 in the final at the Estadio Chamartín. Barcelona also won the 1952 edition in Paris, beating Juventus 4–2 in the semi-final and Nice 1–0 in the final. The competition was gradually discontinued after the introduction of the European Cup; it is not considered official by UEFA but is recognized by FIFA.
Inter-Cities Fairs Cup
The Inter-Cities Fairs Cup was established on 18 April 1955 to promote trade fairs by having cities compete against each other. Barcelona participated with a squad composed entirely of its own players; from 1958 onward, the organisers reverted to club participation, though teams still had to come from cities staging trade fairs. Barcelona won the Fairs Cup a record three times, with one runner-up finish, before the tournament was subsumed into the UEFA Cup in 1971. The competition is considered the forerunner of the UEFA Cup / Europa League but is not recognized as a UEFA competition, so its wins do not count toward Europa League tallies.
Super Cup
The Super Cup was inaugurated in 1973, matching the European Cup holders against the Cup Winners' Cup winners; after the Cup Winners' Cup was abolished, the Europa League winners gained entry. Barcelona first participated in the 1979 edition after winning the 1978–79 Cup Winners' Cup, losing 1–2 on aggregate to Nottingham Forest. Their first victory came in the 1992 edition, defeating Werder Bremen 3–2 on aggregate. Barcelona has since won the competition four additional times (1997, 2009, 2011, 2015), sharing the record for second-most victories (five) with Milan, behind Real Madrid (six).
Intercontinental Cup / Club World Cup
The Intercontinental Cup was established in 1960 by UEFA and CONMEBOL to decide the world's top club, matching the European Cup champion against the Copa Libertadores winner. Barcelona's sole participation came in December 1992, a 2–1 loss to São Paulo. FIFA introduced its Club World Cup in 2000, and by 2005 had absorbed the Intercontinental Cup into that event. Barcelona have claimed the FIFA Club World Cup three times, in 2009, 2011, and 2015, and finished as runners-up once, in 2006.
