Play the Siren began as a hip-hop crew, releasing a mix tape on Baljunso's official YouTube channel. Member Kasper also released solo material on her own YouTube channel. In 2014, SM Entertainment acquired Baljunso, and the two companies launched a showcase titled Baljunso World Wide Promotion in Hongdae on March 8, featuring performances by HLIN, Love and Peace, and 015B's Jang Ho Il project band. Following this, Baljunso assisted Play the Siren's debut with the single album 'Dream Drive' in July. A teaser released on July 17 featured Luna of f(x), who participated in the song and music video. The music video was released on July 21 on Baljunso and SM Entertainment's official YouTube channels, and the group debuted on Music Bank. On July 23, the song 'Cypher' was released as a follow-up single and the group's first full rap song.

In 2015, a teaser for the comeback 'Green Light' was uploaded on April 19, eight days before the official release. At that time, only three members remained: Kasper, Siren, and Beckbum. On July 16, a comeback was released starring only member Siren, suggesting either a solo debut or that he was the only remaining member.
