The ATF: the federal agency that goes after SAMCRO's gun business.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is the US Department of Justice agency that investigates illegal guns and explosives, arson and bombings, and alcohol and tobacco trafficking. Because SAMCRO's main business is running guns, ATF agents are among the club's most persistent enemies in Sons of Anarchy, and the agency returns in the spin-off Mayans M.C.

Background
Its best-known agent in the series is June Stahl, who is eventually killed by Opie Winston; Stahl herself kills Agent Amy Tyler. Agent Josh Kohn is fired and later killed by Jax Teller, and Agent Katie McNeill is also fired. Three agents are murdered by Lenny "The Pimp" Janowitz, who serves a life sentence for it. Agents in the Mayans M.C. story include Melissa Lydecker, Raymond Bowman, Frank Eagan and Grad Nicholas, and it is an ATF raid that wipes out the Mayans' Santo Padre charter.
