Background and promotion
Snoop Dogg first brought up the album on May 13, 2025, during an Access Hollywood chat, where he framed the title as a question about his own life: whether it's a crime to care for people or simply be himself. He made the official announcement later that day by sharing the album's front and back covers on social media. The next morning, he sat down with The Breakfast Club to talk about what keeps him rapping after all these years as a hip-hop veteran. The title itself stems from the backlash he faced for performing at Donald Trump's second inaugural celebration. A short film for the project had a private New York City screening on May 13, then hit his YouTube channel the following day. One track, "ShutYoBitchAssUp," takes aim at Suge Knight, the former Death Row CEO and co-founder.
