Background
In October 2010, Grupo Nutresa—then still called Grupo Nacional de Chocolates S.A.—purchased the U.S.-based cookie manufacturer Fehr Foods. The acquisition marked a step in the group's international expansion, which had begun in 2004 with purchases in Central America and the Caribbean. After the purchase, Fehr Foods was renamed AbiMar Foods. The group's market value had grown by a factor of 25 in the decade leading up to 2010, reaching US$6 billion. AbiMar Foods is listed among the group's brands in the United States, alongside Cameron's Coffee, Kibo Foods, Lil' Dutch Maid, and Tru-Blu.
