Background
They rehearsed little and played few gigs, leaving a legacy of songs on two tape samplers. Described as five guys dabbling in skate-punk who caused a stir in the late 1980s, the band underwent many lineup changes.
Career
A review noted that "Skate Tonight" was a new skate anthem and that the band brought a distinct character of song stylings. Maximum Rocknroll said Disaster Area did not thrash but delivered a powerful assault with many choruses and a Misfits appeal. They had only five days to record and mix the album, and it was released on the Berlin-based Bonzen Records label. Drummer Oli suffered an ear injury causing ringing sounds and headaches, after which he left the band and Berlin for Australia. Now signed to a major label, they toured with CIA, played some gigs with Millencolin, and performed at skating contests. A review by Robert for Burn Your Ears said the album had pleasing straightforward passages and good vocals, with catchiness in songs like "Mobile", but felt that "Skateboard" was unnecessary and spoiled the overall impression, concluding it was an album one could take or leave. Power Metal's review was positive, stating the album gets better with every spin and that the band was not interested in pseudo-intellectual lyrics, letting the music speak. The album was also reviewed in Plastic Bomb.
