Background

The event was the 16th Singapore Grand Prix held as a Formula One World Championship round and the 16th time the Marina Bay Street Circuit hosted the race, taking place from 3 to 5 October. Oscar Piastri led the Drivers' Championship with 324 points, 25 ahead of teammate Lando Norris and 69 ahead of Max Verstappen. McLaren led the Constructors' Championship with 634 points, followed by Mercedes (290) and Ferrari (286). McLaren could secure the Constructors' title by scoring at least 13 points; a win or a podium by one driver would guarantee it. Mercedes needed to outscore McLaren by 31 points and Ferrari by 35 to prevent this. Red Bull had already been eliminated from title contention after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Two driver changes applied: Yuki Tsunoda replaced Liam Lawson at Red Bull from the Japanese Grand Prix onward, and Franco Colapinto replaced Jack Doohan at Alpine from the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix onward, later confirmed to retain the seat on a race-by-race basis. Pirelli supplied C3, C4, and C5 tyre compounds. The pit lane was widened by one metre, raising the speed limit from 60 km/h to 80 km/h.

Practice

Three free practice sessions were held. The first session on 3 October was topped by Fernando Alonso ahead of Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen; Alexander Albon had a brake fire and set no time. The second session, also on 3 October, was led by Oscar Piastri ahead of Isack Hadjar and Verstappen. Red flags occurred after George Russell hit the wall at turns 16–17 and Liam Lawson crashed at turn 16. Leclerc was released early and collided with Norris, damaging the McLaren's front wing; Ferrari received a €10,000 fine. The third session on 4 October was topped by Verstappen ahead of Piastri and Russell, with a red flag after Lawson hit the wall at turn 7.

Qualifying

Qualifying on 4 October determined the starting grid. George Russell took pole position, his second of the season, ahead of Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri. Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz initially qualified 12th and 13th but were disqualified for a DRS infringement; both were allowed to race at the stewards' discretion. Pierre Gasly qualified 18th but started from the pit lane due to parc fermé modifications. Albon also started from the pit lane after his car was modified under parc fermé conditions.

Race

The 62-lap race on 5 October saw George Russell maintain the lead from pole. Max Verstappen started on soft tyres but could not pass Russell. Lando Norris gained two positions on the first lap but collided with teammate Oscar Piastri and Verstappen at turn 3, damaging his front wing and dropping Piastri to fifth. Gabriel Bortoleto and Lance Stroll made contact at turn 1. Piastri had a slow 5.2-second pit stop, and Fernando Alonso a 9.2-second stop. Russell won ahead of Verstappen and Norris; Norris's third place and Piastri's fourth secured the Constructors' Championship for McLaren. Kimi Antonelli finished fifth, Charles Leclerc sixth, followed by Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Oliver Bearman, and Carlos Sainz. Hamilton received a post-race five-second penalty for track limits, dropping him to eighth. Isack Hadjar had a power issue and finished outside the points. McLaren won the Constructors' Championship with 650 points. Piastri led the Drivers' Championship by 22 points over Norris and 63 over Verstappen.
