Return to Silent Hill is a 2026 supernatural psychological horror film directed by Christophe Gans, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Sandra Vo-Anh and Will Schneider. Victor Hadida produced it under his Davis Films label. The movie loosely adapts Konami’s 2001 video game *Silent Hill 2* and serves as both the third film in the series and a reboot. Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson star. The story follows James Sunderland, a man shattered by loss who gets a strange letter summoning him back to Silent Hill to find the woman he loved. Once there, he discovers the town has changed, encounters both familiar and new horrors, and starts to doubt his own mind. Plans for a new *Silent Hill* movie first surfaced in December 2006, when Gans and writer Roger Avary were hired to adapt the second game, with Sony giving the project a green light. Then a letter from Mary arrives, urging him to return to Silent Hill, and he rushes back. The town is shrouded in fog and falling ash, mostly deserted due to a mysterious illness that killed many. He meets a woman named Angela and soon gets attacked by a monstrous creature. The town shifts into a twisted, otherworldly version of itself. James flees to the Wood Side Apartment building, where he and Mary once lived.
