Reader's Guide
Shining Resonance is significant as a Japan-exclusive entry in the long-running Shining series, representing a traditional Japanese role-playing game with action-based battles similar to the Tales series. Its remaster, Shining Resonance Refrain, brought the game to a worldwide audience for the first time, adding new content such as a 'Refrain Mode' side story, two additional playable characters, and over 150 pieces of downloadable content. The original PS3 version sold approximately 67,000 copies in its first week in Japan, ranking fifth in sales. The remaster received mixed reviews, with critics praising its combat system but noting a lack of originality and some presentation issues.
